Septic Tanks

In spring 2012, Environnement Sanivac received the mandate from the Board of waste management for the Lac- St- Jean Est territory to provide selective drainage of all septic tanks on its territory and transport the wastewater to a mandated site of disposal. The services are for permanent homes and cottage/vacation homes that are not linked to the public sewage network.

A step forward for the environment!

Always aiming to improve its services, Environnement Sanivac acquired a new type of truck to selectively empty the septic tank sludge.

This truck separates sludge from liquids. 99.7% of solids stay in the truck cisterns while the septic tank liquids return filtered inside the septic tank, thus maintaining the bacterial flora which allows the septic tank to keep on working normally.

Advantages :

  • This truck can store the content of 8 to 10 septic tanks, unlike the standard tank which contains only 4 to 5 septic tanks.
  • The carbon footprint of this truck is 49 % to 54 % lower than a standard truck. Therefore its use leads to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Selective drainage also creates potable water savings, due to the recommendation of completely filling the septic tank with water once it’s emptied to ensure optimum performance and prevent subsidence or uplift.
